YarraBUG October-November News Round up
Wednesday night wind down ride - 2 November 2005
Hi folks, with day light saving nearly upon us it seems like a good opportunity to go for a bit of ride finishing off with a bite to eat. If you feel up to a wandering ride on Wednesday 2nd November ending up at the Thanh Thanh restaurant, Victoria St Richmond (opposite Albert St) about 7.30pm for dinner then join the revelling riders at the bike path on the corner of Spensley St and the Esplanade, Clifton Hill at 6.30pm. Please ensure you have a helmet, adequate lighting for night riding, and clothing to suit the conditions. Could you RSVP to Karen on 9667 1827 or at kdouglas@cpsuvic.org by Wednesday morning so I have a rough idea of how many seats we need at the Thanh Thanh.
thanks, Karen
Bicycling for Health and Transport - Ladies Bikes Required
The Bicycling for Health and Transport is happening on Thursday afternoons and it would be great to have some local bicyclists to help out. We are meeting at Harmsworth House, Harmsworth Street, Collingwood at 4:15pm. If you would like more info, just email or call me. I am still in need of a couple of ladies bikes. If there are any out there, it would be great to receieve them, as we are having people sitting on the grass, not able to ride with the others.
Thanks a lot,
Elliot Fishman,

Maribyrnong City Council Bike Ed course
Maribyrnong City Council have some places in a Bike Ed course to be run on Wednesday 9th November, 1-6pm. See Joanna’s e-mail below. Participation in the course would be paid for by council (valued at $80 each) in exchange for your time to assist running bike safety workshops with children on 14th, 15th, 16th November between 12.30-3.30pm at three Maribyrnong Schools (Footscray PS, Footscray West PS and Dinjarra PS).
Therefore if you can commit to: Wednesday 9th November - 1-6pm AND either the 14th, 15th, 16th November between 12.30-3.30pm (especially the 15th!!) then WE NEED YOU!
This is a great opportunity to add to your own bike skills and act as a cycling champion and educator. Please contact either myself or Joanna to discuss if you’re interested or need any further clarification. Thanks, and please feel free to distribute amongst your cycling networks.

Returned thanks - YarraBUG helps out recent Yarra Bike Day at Fitzroy Primary
I want to thank you very much for your help at the Fitzroy Primary Pedal Power event last week. Quite simply, your help, ands Elliot’s, turned out to be essential to the event. 20-30 minute sessions on the bikes was much too short, but apart from that a great morning. I hope the school is motivated to undertake more activities after seeing how excited and positive the children were. Lots of the kids there do not have bikes (and now want them), and plenty were on a bike for the first time.
I had another event at yesterday, at Princes Hill Primary, the differences being that they had devoted the entire day to bike activities and 3 extra staff to help me run it. As you can imagine, it was excellent.
I’ll forward you some photos from the Fitzroy event when I receive the disk. Thanks again. Look forward to crossing paths again soon. If there’s anything I can do to help out your work cycle-wise, please let me know.
