Double passes for Overcoming
Bicycle Basics Workshop
Amy’s Ride this Saturday

A happy new 2006 to you all!
The festive season isn’t over yet for YarraBUG members - we have FIVE, yes that’s FIVE double passes from the lovely folk at Aztec International, to give away to “Overcoming” preview screenings weekend 14th/15th January at Nova Cinema.
Film review:
“With former pro rider, Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis as our protagonist, the film follows him and his new Team CSC closely as they strive for the impossible: to become the best in the world and win the Tour de France 2004. The drama and excitement unfurls in a narrative tread that recalls “Kelly’s Heroes”: using the most unorthodox methods ever, the general (Riis) will forge a group of soldiers (the riders) from widely differing backgrounds into a single unit: a unit he will launch on an impossible mission. Overcoming is a frank, no-holds-barred portrait of a world few people can imagine: a world in which even the toughest go under as the team strive to realize their ambition.”
The first FIVE people to email: yarrabug@yahoo.com.au will each receive a double pass to the preview screenings at the Nova in Carlton. So get to it!
And that’s not all, Brian from Bent Kranks has kindly invited YarraBUG members to a Bicycle Basics Workshop. There’s only 2-3 places left, so be quick & contact Brian directly as per instructions below
G’day,
I have organised a BICYCLE BASICS workshop at Richmond for Tuesday 17 January, from 6.30-9.30 pm, for my bike club, and I thought some of your newer Yarra BUG members might be interested as it is located in your home territory. It’s really a basic, hands-on session, with PETER MOORE as the instructor, at his Abbotsford Cycles workshop, Swan Street Richmond, outside the Richmond Station. I need it myself - have not yet even changed a tyre or repaired a puncture - and I have offered it to my bike club. There are only 7 places, and we still have 2-3 spots to fill.
Cost is $20. Attached is the infosheet and booking form. If you decide to publicise the workshop, please try and ensure those interested receive a full copy, as there are some vital details on it. Note that bookings come to me - not to Abbotsford Cycles. Feel free to advertise this Workshop in your club, or e-mail (bpm45au@iprimus.com.au ) or phone me if you have any queries on 0418 326 670.
Regards, Brian Mier

Amy’s Ride is this weekend, as part of the Jayco Bay Classic. There will be Combined Wheels of Justice/aus.bicycle team. The organisers are still taking entries up until the day. Also, we have designed a ‘team ticket’ to be placed on your jersey ie: similar to a race ticket pinned to the back. Should have laminated a.b spoke cards by Friday. If you want one, or both, please email or ph me: yarrabug@yahoo.com.au / 0407 825 467
Can also arrange for basic accommodation, safe storage space and showers at a friends place in Geelong East (near Geelong Showground/Racecourse). This is very near the Botanical Gardens. If you want the address details - call/email me directly.
cheers, Chris
