1. Next YarraBUG Meeting
Our first meeting for 2006 is Tuesday 21 Feb, 7.30pm at Suede Bar, 284 Smith Street Collingwood. YarraBUG warmly welcomes anyone with great ideas and energy to share. Joining YarraBUG is currently free and open to all who share in our interest in cycling issues in the Yarra area. See here for 2006 meeting dates.
2. Next Yarra Council Bicycle Advisory Committee Meeting
15 February 2006 – Richmond Town Hall, 6.30pm in Meeting Room 1. All most welcome, CoY do provide coffee, tea, yummy muffins and the occasional sandwich platter, see here for the 2006 timetable.
3. TODAY – Protect your bike: Free Engraving Day at Federation Square. Tuesday 31 Jan 2006 7am – 7pm
Victoria Police’s Melbourne West Bike Patrol division are helping to promote Bicycle Security and have arranged a free bicycle engraving session at Federation Square. Bike engraving will be available from 7am to 7pm. All you need to do is bring your bike down to Federation Square: make sure you also have your driver’s license or Medicare card with you, for identification purposes.

- MazzaBUG are having a social ride on Sunday 5th Feb – from Sandingham to Footscray.
Meeting Points:
1. Footscray Railway Station: Platform 1 @ 9.05am (for 9.12 Sydenham train)
2. Flinders Street Station: Platform 8 @ 9.20am (for 9.27 Sandringham train)
3. Sandringham Station: Platform 1 @ 9.55am.
Cost: FREE for BUG members*, $5 for non-BUG members*, cost includes a free Sunday daily public transport ticket. *Punt tickets are an additional $3.

- Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club: Zoo Twilights Ride
Ride to the ‘Zoo Twilights’ Bee Gees ‘Stayin Alive’ Music. Robyn and Gerry (ph. 9735 9320) are going to ride from Richmond to the Zoo, take in the ‘not so wild life’, sit down, enjoy the music and have a picnic. Date: Sunday 5 Feb. Meet at 3.15pm at Yarra Park, Richmond (Gate 6 Punt Rd, Mel.2G F7). BYO picnic or buy at the Zoo. Zoo admission: adult $21, child $10. (Zoo details: www.zoo.org.au )

Aeolian Ride

5. Pedal Powered Vehicles: Free public lectures
Two free public lectures sharing experiences in developing human-powered transportation projects in India, Indonesia, Africa & North America. When: 6.30pm Wed 1 February.
Where: RMIT City Campus Casey Plaza lecture theatre building 10, Bowen St, (btwn Latrobe & Franklins Sts, ground floor of white angular building with plenty of bike parking at front.)
What: Shreya Gadepalli: Rickshaws and Pedicabs: Solutions from the past for the future. Matteo Martignoni: Human Powered Vehicles: international insights.
Who: Shreya Gadepalli is a Designer and Technical Director with Institute for Transportation & Development Policy based in India. She is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, and has been leading designer on the India cycle rickshaw improvement project. Shreya and Matteo are in Melbourne collaborating on the Pedal-Powered Vehicles Workshop
