While most of the new trail is quite an excellent standard, the trail continues to be plagued by problems:

The issues are:
1) While the Melbourne Girl's College detour is due to construction on private land, it has gone on for long enough. It is here that competing with car drivers who are inconsiderate is a big problem. Have seen nothing on Bicycle Victoria's website regarding this lately.
2) Contractors who think it is OK to place "men at work" signs in the middle of the trail followed by parking their vehicle over the pavement of the trail. This is a regular occurrance and I would love to see them ticketed for parking on a path/trail.
3) Using the Yarra Boulevarde road beside the bike track due to the blockages, leads to being passed closely by motorists at speed very dangerously, also suddenly stopping in the middle of the road with no indication, and being of course being told to get off the road and onto the bike track by motorists.

Motorists want cyclists to be out of their way, but the only dedicated bike/shared trail in the area is continuously blocked.

Bicycle Wagga Wagga is running 2 events during Bike Week 2009 in Sept.

We want to be run a couple of quizes. One of these is to be on bike components/parts. The Target group for this quiz are high school students and adults....so the level we're aiming for is of moderate difficulty. We've searched the web... will little success

Does the Yarra Bug have such a quiz to make the Bike Week event a little more fun. Also looking for another quiz - more general.

Appreciated Petrina

[...] On my twirls along Yarra Boulevard this morning, I found out about Yarra BUG, a kind of community cell of Bicycle Victoria folks from Abbotsford, Alphington, Burnley, North Carlton, Clifton Hill, Cremorne, Collingwood, Fairfield, Fitzroy, North Fitzroy, Princes Hill and Richmond. They are leading the campaign for the removal of the Gipps St steps, those dreadful steps which cyclists and walkers need to descend from Gipps St heading away from the city and towards the Convent, the Children’s Farm, and Dights Falls. People coming from any of those places and heading towards the Botanic Gardens and the City, nead to dismount and push their bikes up little concrete channels next to the stairs. [...]
