Righto! Action!
Some questions.
-Where? (which station or stations?)
-When? (Wed 23rd, but what times?)
-Who?
-What?
-How?
WHAT - peaceful, wryly humorous but passionate cardboard bike protest.
HOW - construct one from a bike box obtained from a bike shop seems to
be the easiest way. We could have a group construction sesh this
Saturday or Sunday arvo, maybe in the city, maybe on the lawn in front
of State Lib for want of somewhere accessible? (So pick up your box in
the morning!)
WHERE - I guess it needs to be a manned station to have the
significance of not being allowed to pass through the barriers, so
that means city loop? Spencer St has an awkward setup - Flinders St is
by far the easiest to just rock up to. Melb Central could be another
option. I don't know the other stations well enough.
WHEN? If we use a city station that implies it should be the evening.
4-5:30? When we discussed it at the meeting I got the impression we
were talking about the morning. So am I off the rails or making sense
re: time/place argument?
WHO? Who's up?
Who would be willing to
1 Construct a cardboard bike
2 Attempt to take a cardboard bike through a station
3 Hand out info leaflets to amused passersby while other people do (2)
4 Stand around and provide moral support
And for those who like 2 3 or 4, where and when would you be willing
to do it? which time/place best suits you?
(I realised a bit late that I need to know time and date before I can
make leaflets... sorry!)
Also I threw a few posts up on the website.
BTW, if you want to make a post, even just to express your opinion
about the ban, email us at info at binthebikeban.org with a subject like
"guest blog" and you can be a guest blogger for a day.
It's just like writing a letter to the editor, except easier to get accepted. ;)
cheers
Brianna
