Cycling in the west – RIP Angus Collins<\/a>: Val and Faith are joined in the studio by John Symons of Bike West<\/a> to discuss the issues around cycling in the western suburbs of Melbourne. While this segment was organised a while ago it has since become tragically relevant as Wiliamstown resident Angus Collins was killed on the Footscray Road bike path just days ago.\u00a0 Angus was killed in a collision with a cement truck and trucks are an overwhelming feature of getting around by bike in the west. While state governement policies prioritize the safety of pedestrians and cyclists the circumstances of Angus’ death unfortunately are an example of the many times\u00a0 that authorties seem unwilingly to implement these prioirties on the ground. A fundraiser<\/a> has been started for Angus’ family to cover funeral costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bike West are organising a Critical Mass ride for February 24th<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
