Bike Lanes 4 Johnston Street Campaign Update: 14 July 2024<\/sub><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harrison recounts his experiences riding on Johnston Street, getting feedback, creating the change.org petition<\/a> which has achieved 3,500 signatures, Johnston Street being a great east-west connector through the inner north for active transport, despite it currently being a ‘stroad<\/a>‘ with five lanes for traffic, people wanting to ride more<\/a>, key findings from the recent Inquiry into the impact of road safety behaviours on vulnerable road users<\/a> and his decision to stand as a candidate in the upcoming October council elections<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harrison discusses recents developments<\/a> including meeting with the office of Gabrielle Williams, Minister for Public and Active transport<\/a> and Victorian Department of Transport and Planning<\/a> representatives and the feedback he received about it being a ‘category one road’ for vehicles. Despite that he remains positive about changing transport priorities and make cycling easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
