Send an email to the CEO of Yarra, the Minister for Local Government and the Local Government Inspectorate – here’s issues to mention in your email:

  1. Councillor conduct at Yarra Council’s 8 April 2025 meeting was unacceptable.
  2. The amended motion voted on 8 April 2025 was not appropriately checked and went against officer’s advice.
  3. CEO of Yarra was not present on 8 April 2025 due to unavoidable circumstances.
  4. Due to Yarra councillors not following correct process, council has to vote again on Elizabeth Street on 22 April 2025 at a special meeting.
  5. Returning to Yarra Council’s 8 April 2025 meeting – registered submitters to Items Elizabeth Street 7.1 and Coppin Street 7.2 have not been informed about the extraordinary meeting on 22 April 2025.
  6. Council meeting registration says people cannot make Elizabeth Street submissions at the 22 April 2025 meeting.
  7. We believe this is a denial of peoples right to participate in council decisions, especially when over 70 people spoke to the two items on 8 April 2025.

The more specific you make the email the better, and the more likely it will receive a response.

Subject: Yarra Councillors behaviour: 8 April 2025 Yarra Council Meeting

Hello I am contacting you about several issues including unacceptable councillor conduct at Yarra Council’s 8 April 2025 meeting.

The amended motion voted on 8 April 2025 wasn’t checked prior and against officers advice.

Due to Yarra councillors not following correct process, council has to vote again on Elizabeth Street protected lanes on 22 April 2025 at a special meeting, where governance mentions people cannot make submissions, this is a denial of my right to participate in council decisions, especially when over 70 people spoke to these two items at Yarra Council’s Meeting on Tuesday 8 April 2025.
