Our roads wouldn’t work too well if they weren’t connected
Yarra BUG have joined Better Streets, alongside Streets Alive Yarra and Merri-bek BUG. Better Streets is a coalition of community groups, businesses, individuals that was launched at the 2022 Micromobility Conference in lead up to the 2023 NSW state election. Better Streets are planning to become a national coalition.
Getting involved is free for individuals, groups and includes campaigning resources, meet ups, newsletters and more.

Better Streets key asks:
- Ask #1 – 75% of children walk, cycle, scoot or take public transport to school daily
- Ask #2 – Enable kids to be safe and independent by adopting 30km/h speeds for all local residential streets, and urban centres
- Ask #3 – Build 1,000 kilometres of connected, safe and direct routes per year for people riding bicycles and other micromobility
- Ask #4 – Improve and expand beautiful streetscapes for local business
- Ask #5 – Make it safe and easy to walk by building and upgrading 2,560 pedestrian crossings per year
